Trauma Treatment

Eye Movement Desensitization  Reprocessing Therapy is an intervention used to relieve psychological distress related to trauma.

Through EMDR, therapists will take you ensure a safe place to process distressing memories. It has been found that by re-triggering the brain in brief stimulation while directing eye movements or some form of bilateral stimulation, you can rewire the brain with potential positive experiences. EMDR is known to provide the client with a healthier balance and positive adaptive functioning in the brain to the trauma or distressing memory. Overtime, this approach is known to lessen your response to the memory or replace your negative thoughts with a more acceptable positive interpretation about yourself.
